Saint Martin’s Lanternparade Statenkwartier Monday 11 November 2019

After the great success in previous years also this year a lantern parade will be held on occasion of the feast of Saint Martin .It is a traditional Dutch event on which young children parade through the streets with lanterns, sing little songs at the door, hoping for candy.

That’s why we call schools, nurseries, parents and caregivers in our neighbourhood to encourage pupils and children to participate in the parade.

Let’s challenge the creativity of your child by making his or her own lantern!

Where and when?

We get together at the Prins Mauritsplein and start walking at 6.30 PM.

De route will pass Frederik Hendriklaan, Van Weede van Dijkveldstraat, Van Bleiswijkstraat, Statenplein, Adriaan Pauwstraat, Antonie Heinsiusstraat and end at the  Frederik Hendrikplein, where we arrive around 7.30 PM.

The 12 children with the most original lanterns will be rewarded with a drawing workshop under guidance of Maarten Ruijters, which will take place in the  Couvéehuis on wednesday November 20 20189 from 2 – 3.30 PM.

We ask assistance of parents/caretakes to assist the children or perform other hand and shuttle servics.

In case your school participates, please inform us on how many children we can count and who is willing to assist.
